| Saturday 13th December 2003 We again were proud to hold a presentation evening tonight where we handed over a cheque for £300,00 to Kingsbury School. This money is to be used to buy badly needed equipment for the school playground which caters for children with special needs. Those representing the school had a great evening and even took part in the American Trilogy after being kitted out with guns and hats borrowed from members of The Dawn Riders. Thank you very kindly to all members of the club, you are the ones who make this possible and you should all be very proud of the achievements that the club makes through your kindness and support. | Saturday 20th September 2003 This evening we presented a cheque for £300.00 to Alison Bradshaw who accepted our donation on behalf of St. John's School in Burscough. This money will be used to buy special equipment for children with learning disabilities and special needs. Once these have been purchased, The Dawn Riders are being invited to the school to take part in a full presentation of the purchased equipment. It was nice to see so many people attending the event especially representatives of the school. Stay tuned for more information on St. Johns and other future presentations. Thank You. | Tuesday 22nd June 2004 The Dawnriders will be carrying a 21foot flag pole 2 and half miles on Saturday 26th June on a sponsored walk. This is in aid and to raise funds for a little girl from Rochdale who has cancer. Sadly, the Doctors over here can do no more for her but with enough funding, she can get the treatment she needs in America. Best of luck to the Dawnriders on Saturday. Also a HUGE thank you to DARREN JONES who was our Saturday Night artist a couple of weeks ago. Darren donated all of his fee to the fundraising of this little girl. If anyone else would like to donate or sponsor us in this event, it would be highly appreciated. Please e-mail Carol at the link on the left or contact Barbara McNamara on 0161 797 7019 for more details The Dawnriders Ride Again |
| Monday 19th July 2004 - Sponsored Walk We received a copy of the Rochdale Observer which had an article about a nine year old girl, Rose Worrell, from Rochdale, who has cancer. She has been receiving treatment here, but, unfortunately the doctors have said they can do nothing more for her. Her family found at that there is a doctor in America that can help her, so they have set about trying to raise funds for the trip and the treatment. As fundraising is our main aim, we decided to do a sponsored walk carrying a 21 foot flag pole from Tarelton lights to Hesketh Bowling Club where we hold our Country & Western nights every Saturday. The event took place on Saturday 26th June at 3:00pm. It had been raining all day but luckily it stopped just before we set off, dressed in our Western clothing, carrying flags and collection buckets. We would like to thank local people, shop keepers and drivers along the route who donated. A very big thank you goes out to the artist we had on the night, Darren Jones, who donated all his fee. Also thank you to Dennis at Station Chippy, Picadilly, Manchester. Victoria Wine, Chesham, Bury. Curry's, Bury and also everyone who put their names on the sponsor sheets. We cannot give a final figure as of yet as donations are still being made, but we can tell you that so far we have raised in excess of £1,200.00. Once all the money is collected, we will be presenting a cheque to Rose and her parents on a date to be arranged. Cheque our paper advert on the left for more details on the event. If you are aware of any GENUINE charity that would appreciate our help within the Greater Manchester Are, then please contact our secretary (below left) or from the contact page for more information and someone will then contact you. |
| 27th April 2005 - St. Paul's Primary School, Bury, Lancashire On Saturday 30th April at approximately 9:30pm, we will be presenting, to a representitive from St. Paul's Primary School in Bury, a cheque for £270.00. This donation is what you, 'The Members' have helped us to raise. We chose St. Paul's School for our first donation in Bury after reading an article in a recent edition of the Bury Times newspaper, which sadly told the story of vandals setting fire to a storage shed within the grounds of the school. The shed contained a wide array of toys for the reception class and toddlers of the school which had taken a considerable amount of time to build up. As funds are not plentiful at the school, they were asking for donations of toys to begin to rebuild their collection. We decided to help out by donating a cheque to the school so that they can begin with something behind them and purchase some nice new toys. A huge thank you to our artist on Saturday 23rd April "Stateside" who donated some of their fee towards our funds for St. Paul's. More details will follow once we have done the presentation this weekend. Thank you all for your support. The Dawnriders Ride Again |
| Tuesday 7th June 2005 The Dawnriders presented a cheque to the Headmaster and his Wife from St.Paul's Primary School to aid them in the process of building up their collection of toys which where destroyed by vandals. The evening went well and the Dawnriders were presented with a thank you card from the young children of the school. For more info on the articles, as presented by the Bury Times, please check the links to your left. Best wishes to St. Paul's School for the future and a big thank you to all members.
